About

The Dictionary of Medieval Latin from British Sources is a British Academy research project based at the University of Oxford.

Based entirely on original research, the DMLBS is the most comprehensive dictionary of Medieval Latin to have been produced and the first ever to focus on British Medieval Latin.

Due to be completed in print in 2013, the DMLBS is a definitive survey of the vocabulary of one of the most important languages in British and European history.

Comments policy

Some blog posts are open for comments. Comments, where allowed, will be accepted only from logged-in users of WordPress. The first time a user posts a comment on this blog it will be held in queue for checking that it is not spam, but other than this basic check the content of comments is not moderated and the DMLBS is not responsible for the views expressed.

We would nevertheless ask anyone posting comments to respect the following principles (borrowed from Language Log, where the comments policy has a lot of excellent guidance):

  • be brief
  • be relevant
  • be informed
  • be polite
