Technical language in Medieval Latin

Drafting and editing work at the DMLBS has continued apace over the summer, interrupted only a little by the various members of the team enjoying more or less relaxing summer breaks. With the publication of Fascicule XV in July, the final straight is now almost in sight. Indeed, drafting is long-since completed for Fascicule XVI (approx. to the end of S), which is now well into its thorough checking and revision process and on course for publication at the end of 2012, and the team is drafting material for Fascicule XVII (entries beginning T, U, V).

September will see several members of the DMLBS team travel to Munich to a conference at the Bayerische Akademie der Wissenschaften organized by our sister project, the Mittellateinisches Wörterbuch. This conference, running from the 12th to the 15th, will gather members of the various teams working on dictionaries of Medieval Latin around Europe, as well as other interested scholars. The theme for the papers that will be given is ‘technical language in Medieval Latin’, which promises to provide a rich variety of topics and discussion (programme), and there will also be a general round-table session at which the projects will be able to exchange news and discuss their work and other matters of common interest, especially digitization and working in the electronic age.
